Kid's Market Day
Saturday, March 29th from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Kids Market Day will be an opportunity for students involved with Urban Harvest's After School Program to bring their vegetables to market. Volunteer opportunities for this day will include helping set up, assisting with craft and gardening projects, face painting, assisting vendors, and clean up and break down of the market. New School Garden Work Dates
Saturday, February 16 from 9 a.m. - noon
Hartsfield Elementary- This day will include vegetable and habitat clean up. Hartsfield Elementary school and community will volunteer their time to this work day. This day has been canceled due to a rainy forecast.
Saturday, February 23 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Port Houston Elementary- This day will include vegetable and habitat clean up. The Chinquapin School and the Port Houston school and community will volunteer their time to this work day.

School Garden Workdays
Saturday, March 1st from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Park Place Elementary- This day will include building a butterfly garden, building a compost center, and painting and priming existing vegetable beds. Amigos de las Americas, CEO of
University of Houston, and the Park Place Elementary school and community will volunteer their time to this work day.
Saturday, April 5th from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Hartsfield Elementary- This day will include building a compost bin, planting habitat plants, and general vegetable bed and habitat maintenance. Amigos de las Americas and the Hartsfield Elementary school and community will volunteer their time to this work day.
Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Whittier Elementary- This day will include a habitat clean up and compost bin installation. Amigos de las Americas, St. Paul's Methodist Church of Houston, and the Whittier Elementary school and community will volunteer their time to this work day.

After School Volunteer Activities
Assist After
This volunteer opportunity entails assisting any of the 19 after school garden instructors that service HISD’s 21st Century Grant After School Programs. This volunteer opportunity could be a regular assistant that attends all of an instructor(s) hands-on gardening after school classes with activities in science, math, and other core subjects as well as planting, growing, and harvesting of seasonal vegetables and fruit, or it could be a volunteer that specifically help with cooking activities, garden maintenance, or curriculum assistance on an as needed basis. This volunteer opportunity requires a $25 refundable deposit to be used for the processing of a background check. The schools are in HISD’s north, central, and east regions and held between the times of
Garden Builds
This volunteer opportunity allows volunteers to help build school gardens that are used as outdoor classrooms for the HISD schools that Urban Harvest services.
General Office Assistance for Youth Gardening Programs
This volunteer opportunity asks volunteers to assist at the Urban Harvest offices with general data input, filing, and other general office tasks.
Outreach and Publicity for Youth Gardening Programs
This volunteer opportunity asks for assistance in media activities contributed to and facilitated by Urban Harvest. Activities for this volunteer opportunity might include photography, web design, publicity, and journalism.
